{"id":5779,"date":"2024-09-20T08:48:26","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T05:48:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/support.simplbooks.ee\/en\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=5779"},"modified":"2024-09-20T08:57:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T05:57:24","slug":"how-to-calculate-employees-holiday-pay","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/support.simplbooks.ee\/en\/kasutusjuhendid\/how-to-calculate-employees-holiday-pay\/","title":{"rendered":"How to calculate employee\u2019s holiday pay?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holiday pay is to be paid to the employee no later than the second-to-last working day before the start of the holiday, unless the employer and employee have agreed otherwise (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.riigiteataja.ee\/en\/eli\/529052024001\/consolide\">Employment Contracts Act \u00a7 70 subsection 2<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>There are two options for calculating holiday pay:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Retaining the agreed salary<\/li>\n<li><span id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a23_button\" class=\"su-tooltip-button su-tooltip-button-outline-yes\" aria-describedby=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a23\" data-settings='{\"position\":\"top\",\"behavior\":\"hover\",\"hideDelay\":0}' tabindex=\"0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.riigiteataja.ee\/akt\/118072015004?leiaKehtiv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Based on the average daily wage over the past six months<\/a><\/span><span style=\"display:none;z-index:100\" id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a23\" class=\"su-tooltip\" role=\"tooltip\"><span class=\"su-tooltip-inner su-tooltip-shadow-no\" style=\"z-index:100;background:#FFFFA3;color:#555555;font-size:14px;border-radius:0px;text-align:left;max-width:300px;line-height:1.25\"><span class=\"su-tooltip-title\"><\/span><span class=\"su-tooltip-content su-u-trim\">The procedure for paying and calculating the average wage<\/span><\/span><span id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a23_arrow\" class=\"su-tooltip-arrow\" style=\"z-index:100;background:#FFFFA3\" data-popper-arrow><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The option of retaining the agreed salary can be used if the employee has a fixed monthly salary and there have been no salary changes in the last six calendar months. If the salary has been increased during this period, a more favorable option for the employee can be applied, and the agreed salary can continue to be paid.<\/p>\n<p>If the salary is variable, holiday pay must be calculated based on the average daily wage of the last six calendar months.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure accurate payroll, the <strong>employee&#8217;s<\/strong> <strong>absences<\/strong> (illness, holiday) must be added to the calendar. Events can be added via <strong>Payroll<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Calendar<\/strong> -&gt; <span id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a8a_button\" class=\"su-tooltip-button su-tooltip-button-outline-yes\" aria-describedby=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a8a\" data-settings='{\"position\":\"top\",\"behavior\":\"hover\",\"hideDelay\":0}' tabindex=\"0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/support.simplbooks.ee\/en\/kasutusjuhendid\/calendar-events-holidays-sick-leaves-and-so-on\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Add&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>event<\/strong><\/a><\/span><span style=\"display:none;z-index:100\" id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a8a\" class=\"su-tooltip\" role=\"tooltip\"><span class=\"su-tooltip-inner su-tooltip-shadow-no\" style=\"z-index:100;background:#FFFFA3;color:#555555;font-size:14px;border-radius:0px;text-align:left;max-width:300px;line-height:1.25\"><span class=\"su-tooltip-title\"><\/span><span class=\"su-tooltip-content su-u-trim\">Read here about adding calendar events<\/span><\/span><span id=\"su_tooltip_69d7009e77a8a_arrow\" class=\"su-tooltip-arrow\" style=\"z-index:100;background:#FFFFA3\" data-popper-arrow><\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When adding an event to the calendar, the appropriate <strong>event<\/strong> <strong>type<\/strong> must be selected:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Holiday with salary retention<\/li>\n<li>Holiday based on the 6-month average (excluding public holidays)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<span class=\"su-label su-label-type-warning\">NB!<\/span> Once the event is in the calendar, holiday details will be loaded from the calendar when entering new salary details for the employee, and pay will be calculated accordingly.<\/p>\n<p>Advice: If you use the option of creating the new salary based on the employee&#8217;s previously calculated salary, data will not be loaded from the calendar.
